Job summary

Northern Health is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant in Specialized Services to coordinate confidential secretarial support for the team and its portfolio. You will help plan, deliver and evaluate programs aligning with NH’s strategic plan.

The role requires effective communication, independent work, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced health system. Travel to NH sites is required as needed.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 with diploma/certificate in Business or Office Administration plus 3–5 years of progressive administrative experience.
  • Experience with electronic staff scheduling and HRIS in a large multi-union environment is an asset.
  • Valid B.C. Driver’s license as required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, organize and provide confidential secretarial and administrative support to the Specialized Services team.
  • Assist in planning, delivery and evaluation of programs and services aligned with Northern Health’s plans.
  • Support minutes transcription and follow through on actions arising from meetings.
  • Travel to various NH locations as required.

Position Summary

Northern Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient, and self-directed Administrative Assistant, Specialized Services (NW) to join Northern Health.

The Administrative Assistant, Specialized Services is responsible for coordinating, organizing and providing confidential secretarial and administrative support to members of the Specialized Services team and their portfolio. The Administrative Assistant provides support in the planning, delivery and evaluation of programs and services aligned with, and in support of, achieving Northern Health’s vision, mission, values and strategic plan.

The salary range for this position is $49,445 (min) to $61,806 (midpoint) to $64,897 (max) per annum, based on 1.0 FTE. Northern Health typically establishes salaries within the minimum and midpoint of the salary range based on qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

Qualifications
  • Grade 12 supplemented by successful completion of a diploma or certificate in Business or Office Administration plus three (3) to five (5) years progressive administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
  • Experience with electronic staff scheduling and human resource information systems in a large multi-union environment an asset.
  • Valid B.C. Driver’s license (as required).

  • Ability to record and transcribe minutes of meetings, and to organize administrative follow through on actions arising.
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to exercise judgment, tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information of a confidential or sensitive nature.
  • A broad knowledge of office administration practices and basic accounting procedures.
  • Basic research skills to investigate issues and compile information.
  • Ability to take initiative to develop and lead improvement to systems, procedures and processes.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to various locations within NH, as required.
