ACTUARIAL SPECIALIST – RISK MANAGEMENT

We are a fast-growing commercial property and casualty insurance company operating in Canada and the United States. Our focus is on commercial lines, with a smaller personal lines portfolio. Key products include liability, property, surety, and warranty insurance. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join our growing Risk Management Department. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Risk Officer of Trisura Specialty, a primary division of Trisura Group.

Accountabilities Include:

• Collaborate with the Corporate Actuarial Department on risk and financial modeling, including:
  • Development of new risk and capital models, focusing initially on reinsurance counterparty credit risk and climate scenario testing
  • Enhancement and implementation of other risk models supporting ORSA and FCT processes
  • Development of financial forecast models to support business planning, capital planning, and new business evaluations
  • Implementation of property concentration mapping and deterministic catastrophe scenario testing
• Oversee catastrophe modeling conducted by third parties.
• Supervise technical financial risks, including Insurance Risk, Catastrophe Risk, and Reinsurance Counterparty Risk within Trisura Specialty.
• Maintain knowledge of regulatory capital regimes in Canada and the U.S., including the Best Capital Adequacy Ratio, and support incorporation of new risks and regulatory requirements into risk and compliance frameworks through projects.
• Advise the business on risk issues and develop reports, controls, policies, or processes as needed.
• Support other risk management or actuarial projects and analyses as required.

Qualifications:

• Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society
• 7+ years of relevant experience
• Broad knowledge of actuarial methods in property and casualty insurance
• Experience with risk modeling, stress testing, and stochastic modeling is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Diva, Arius, and catastrophe modeling tools is an asset.
