Job summary

Ed Seguin & Sons, a family-owned civil construction and aggregate company in Northeastern Ontario, is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to oversee day-to-day accounting while staying hands-on with bookkeeping, project accounting, payroll support and office administration.

You will be the primary internal resource for accounting matters, ensuring accurate records, reliable reporting and timely completion of work, with opportunities to contribute to process improvements and supervision

Qualifications

• At least five years of accounting or bookkeeping experience with month-end close and general ledger work.
• Diploma in accounting or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bookkeeping certification is an asset.
• Construction or project accounting experience and knowledge of job costing are preferred.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks or similar accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• The ability to review accounting work, coordinate deadlines and resolve discrepancies.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment and discretion with confidential financial and employee information.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting processes and keep books up to date.
• Support payroll administration and provide project accounting assistance.
• Assist with month-end close, financial reporting and year-end work with external accountants.
• Support job costing, progress billing, holdbacks and project close-outs.
• Maintain internal controls and improve accounting processes and procedures.
• Coordinate office administration and liaise with IT, facilities and vendors.

We’re growing and looking for an experienced Accounting Supervisor to join our team. The Role

Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll oversee day‑to‑day accounting processes while remaining hands‑on with bookkeeping, project accounting, payroll support and office administration. You’ll be the primary internal resource for accounting matters, helping ensure accurate records, reliable reporting and timely completion of work.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, reviewing transactions, coding and supporting documentation for accuracy.
• Maintain the general ledger, prepare journal entries and reconcile bank, credit card and vendor accounts.
• Coordinate month‑end close, financial reporting and year‑end support for our external accountants.
• Support job costing, progress billing, holdbacks, subcontractor documentation and project financial close‑outs.
• Support the Payroll Administrator with reconciliations, discrepancy resolution and year‑end summaries.
• Maintain accounting procedures and internal controls, guide employees and identify opportunities to improve processes.
• Manage company permits, licences, qualifications and regulatory reporting, including MTO, CVOR, MNR and TOARC requirements.
• Coordinate weigh‑scale administration and training, operational reporting and related recordkeeping.
• Coordinate IT providers, cleaning services, office supplies and general office support.

What We’re Looking For

• At least five years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience, including month‑end close, reconciliations and general ledger work.
• A diploma in accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bookkeeping certification is an asset.
• Construction or project accounting experience and knowledge of job costing are preferred.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks or similar accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• The ability to review accounting work, coordinate deadlines and resolve discrepancies.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential financial and employee information.
• A practical, team‑oriented approach and willingness to handle both accounting and office responsibilities.
• Experience coordinating accounting processes or guiding other employees is an asset.
