The Role

As the Accounting Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity, trust account compliance, and regulatory adherence across multiple provinces. You will supervise the accounting team, optimize workflows, and support executive decision-making through insightful financial reporting. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who thrives in a dynamic setting with a passion for operational excellence and compliance leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting processes across all jurisdictions.
• Manage general ledger, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Lead trust accounting compliance, ensuring adherence to Law Society regulations in Ontario, Quebec, BC, and Alberta.
• Supervise trust reconciliations, internal audits, and act as the main contact for Law Society spot audits.
• Oversee AR/AP, bookkeeping, and mentor accounting team members.
• Evaluate and implement new accounting tools and technologies, improving workflow efficiency.
• Manage banking relationships, monitor wire limits, and ensure proper handling of client funds and disbursements.
• Advise leadership on tax, regulatory, and compliance matters across all jurisdictions.

Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of Law Society trust accounting regulations (Ontario, Quebec, BC, Alberta).
• Proven leadership in accounting operations, with experience supervising teams.
• Expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
• Experience in cash management, risk assessment, and banking relations.
• Tech-savvy, with a track record of implementing accounting systems and workflow improvements.
• Up-to-date knowledge of Canadian tax laws, accounting standards, and regulatory compliance.
