Job summary

The Seaboard Transport Group is seeking an Accounting Co-op Student in Dartmouth, NS. You will work closely with the Accounting team and Director of Finance to perform reconciliations, post journal entries, and support month-end close, gaining a full picture of the business.

You'll shadow senior leaders, participate in interdepartmental meetings, and tour operations to understand how finance aligns with operations, delivering real contributions by the term end.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) are required.
• Solid organizational and analytical abilities for managing multiple tasks.
• Proactive, professional approach when working with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform reconciliations for broker accounts, bank accounts, and various GL accounts.
• Prepare and post manual and recurring journal entries.
• Support month-end close activities.
• Assist with maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
• Contribute to special projects and other accounting-related tasks.

Position Overview: As an Accounting Co-op Student, you won’t just be working behind the scenes—you’ll gain a full picture of how our business operates. Working closely with our Accounting team and Director of Finance, you’ll contribute to meaningful work while building valuable connections across the organization. This program goes beyond the numbers. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with senior leadership, meet department heads to better understand the business, and experience operations firsthand through job shadowing, ride-alongs, and cross-functional tours.
