Job summary

Baker Tilly Canada, based in Dartmouth, NS, is seeking a Co-op Student in Assurance & Advisory to gain hands-on experience while contributing to real client work. You'll help set up accounting systems, prepare financial information, and assist with audits at a junior level under supervision.

This paid co-op offers growth-focused mentoring, exposure to tax and advisory services, and opportunities to build client relationships within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

  • Working towards or completion of a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (Accounting/Finance major)
  • Working towards completion of pre-requisite courses for the CPA PEP
  • Familiarity with basic accounting concepts (balance sheet, income statement, etc.)
  • You are an excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills
  • Have an interest in accounting and tax work
  • Be a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic and keen attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and are an excellent problem solver
  • Proficient in, and willing to learn various computer applications
  • Knowledge of Caseware/Caseview and TaxPrep is an asset

  • Examine accounting records and prepare financial statements and reports
  • Perform audit duties at a junior level
  • Develop and maintain cost savings, reporting and internal control procedures
  • Examine financial accounts, accounting records and prepare income tax returns
  • Analyze financial statements and reports and provide financial, business and tax advice
  • Compilations, tax returns & personal taxes
  • Build and nurture strong working relationships with staff, partners and clients
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by partner or senior staff

Your role:



  • Plan, set-up and administer accounting systems and prepare financial information for an individual, department, company or other establishment.

  • Examine accounting records and prepare financial statements and reports.

  • Perform audit duties at a junior level. This includes examining and analyzing journal and ledger entries, bank statements, inventories, expenditures, tax returns and other accounting and financial records, documents and systems of an individual, department, company or other establishment to ensure financial recording accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, procedures and internal controls.

  • Develop and maintain cost savings, reporting and internal control procedures.

  • Examine financial accounts, accounting records and prepare income tax returns

  • Analyze financial statements and reports and provide financial, business and tax advice.

  • Compilations, tax returns & personal taxes

  • Build and nurture strong working relationships with staff, partners and clients

  • Participate in special projects as assigned by partner or senior staff.


What you bring to the table:
