Job description

The Accounting Clerk is a professional, organized, accounting specialist with the skills to execute day-to-day business financial operations.

Location:

St. Catharines, ON

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing AP/AR
  • Interacting with management, customers and vendors
  • Prepare invoices, coordinate the billing process and accounts receivable
  • Facilitate accounts payable payments to vendors/subcontractors
  • Prepare and maintain payment templates in the banking system
  • Perform bank reconciliations
  • Manage cheque runs as required
  • Assist the finance team in compiling month-end and year-end accruals
  • Handle inquiries from internal and external sources
  • Other duties as assigned or required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent analytical, financial, and mathematical abilities
  • Post secondary education in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with AP/AR
  • Experience with multicurrency transactions – CAD/USD
  • Experience working with banks (banking transactions, money transfers, deposits etc.)
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting processes, payment systems, etc.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with operating management, financial staff, and other departments.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail
