Job summary

Matix Lumber is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our growing team in Manitoba. This role offers hands-on accounting experience across multiple entities, with mentorship as you progress toward the CPA program.

You will process accounts payable and receivable, assist with bank reconciliations and month-end close, and help prepare schedules for financial reporting while supporting the finance team with data entry and ad hoc reports.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in accounting/business or equivalent.
• Enrolled in, or planning to start, the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA).
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Assist with bank reconciliations and month-end close tasks.
• Match invoices to purchase orders and packing slips.
• Maintain accurate records and support document filing/organization.
• Help prepare supporting schedules for financial reporting.
• Assist the finance team with ad hoc reporting and data entry as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will have duties such as but not limited to:

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
• Assist with bank reconciliations and month-end close tasks
• Match invoices to purchase orders and packing slips
• Maintain accurate records and support document filing/organization
• Help prepare supporting schedules for financial reporting
• Assist the finance team with ad hoc reporting and data entry as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A diploma or degree in accounting/business (e.g., Red River Polytechnic Business Administration – Accounting, or equivalent)
• Enrolled in, or planning to start, the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA).
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers.
• Proficiency in Excel; exposure to accounting software as an asset.
• Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
