Matix Lumber Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Accounting Analyst to join our finance team.

The role supports accurate reporting, budgeting, and analysis while ensuring GAAP compliance and driving process improvements. You will reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger, prepare monthly statements and budget variance analyses for multiple entities, and help develop financial models to guide strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years accounting experience across multiple departments.
• 2+ years in financial planning and analysis.
• Knowledge of GAAP, tax laws, budgeting processes.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with BisTrack ERP and Great Plains is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong time management and prioritization.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present findings.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Analyst to join our finance team. The Accounting Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the company’s financial operations through accurate reporting, budgeting, and analysis, while ensuring compliance with GAAP and driving process improvements.

The Accounting Analyst will be responsible for:

• Reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger account balances
• Completing the monthly balance sheet, income statement, and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses for multiple companies
• Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets schedules.
• Posting journal entries (with the approval of the Controller or Director of Finance)
• Preparing revenue projections and forecasting expenditures
• Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets
• Investigating and resolving account discrepancies and issues of non-compliance
• Creating a Standard Operating Procedure Manual for accounting policies, regulations, and reconciliation procedures
• Creating and analyzing liability, asset, and capital accounts by compiling electronic data and required documentation.
• Develop financial models to support strategic decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide insights to senior management to drive business performance.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide recommendations to optimize financial performance.
• Assist in the development and implementation of financial systems and processes to streamline operations.
• Support ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Accounting Analyst will have:

• 3+ years of accounting experience supporting multiple departments.
• 2+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis (preferably in construction or manufacturing).
• Working knowledge of: GAAP, Tax laws, Budgetary processes, ERP implementation.
• Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel).
• Knowledge of BisTrack (ERP) and Great Plains (GP) systems (strong asset).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong time management and prioritization skills.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present findings to senior management.
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy, supported by high-level critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning.
• Ability to work independently, with a proactive mindset for process improvement and business growth.
• Ability to provide excellent internal customer service and follow up on requests.
