Job summary

MNP is a leading Canadian accounting, tax and advisory firm seeking an Accountant to join our Assurance & Accounting team. You will deliver tailored financial information to help clients make informed decisions, while growing technical expertise across audits, reviews, compilations, bookkeeping and tax.

The role emphasizes collaboration with client teams, adherence to IFRS/GAAP/ASPE, and opportunities to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major preferred)
• Prerequisites for CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) upon commencement of employment
• Previous accounting related office experience is an asset
• Customer service and/or client service experience is considered an asset
• Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax
• Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and/or ASPE
• Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses, manage multiple files and inventories
• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset acquisition/disposition and payroll walkthroughs
• Prepare balance sheets, income statements and other reports
• Assess audit evidence for expenses, revenues, assets, payables and prepaid expenses
• Review discrepancies in financial entries and reports
• Establish charts of accounts and prep entries for posting
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports and client summaries
• Collaborate with client engagement team and build client relationships
• Contribute to process improvements using internal programs
• Maintain flexibility to travel
