Job summary

MNP is a leading Canadian accounting, tax, and business advisory firm seeking an Accountant to join our Assurance & Accounting team. You will deliver tailored financial information to help clients make informed decisions, while developing technical accounting skills and collaborating with client teams.

You will work on compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax, applying IFRS/GAAP/ASPE knowledge, and you may travel as needed to serve clients across Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting/finance major preferred).
• CPA Prerequisites (upon commencement of employment).
• Previous accounting related office experience is an asset.
• Customer service or client service experience is an asset.
• Experience with accounting and tax software is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax.
• Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and ASPE.
• Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses; manage multiple files and conduct inventory counts.
• Perform accounts receivable and accounts payable tasks; payroll walk-through with clients.
• Summarize current financial status by preparing balance sheets, income statements and other reports.
• Assess appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues and asset additions.
• Review and correct discrepancies in financial entries and reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and prepare postings to accounts.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, client summaries and presentations of engagement findings.
• Collaborate with client engagement team and client contacts.
• Contribute to development of new ideas to improve work processes; use internal programs and systems.
• Maintain flexibility to travel as necessary.
