Job summary

MNP is seeking an Accountant for our Terrace office to support the Assurance & Accounting team. You’ll develop technical accounting skills across compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax while serving diverse mid-market clients.

You will apply IFRS/GAAP/ASPE knowledge, set up new client files, manage multiple engagements and prepare key financial reports. Travel as needed, with strong development opportunities at MNP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting/finance major preferred).
• CPA PEP prerequisites or eligibility to commence employment.
• Previous accounting office experience is an asset.
• Customer service experience is an asset.
• Experience with accounting and tax software is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax.
• Develop and apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and ASPE.
• Set up files for new clients and manage multiple files; conduct inventory counts.
• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, asset acquisition/disposition and payroll walk-through with clients.
• Summarize current financial status by preparing balance sheets, P&L statements and reports.
• Assess audit evidence for expenses, revenues, assets and prepaid items.
• Review and correct discrepancies in financial entries and reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and prepare posting entries.
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations.
• Collaborate with client engagement team and build client relationships.
• Contribute to process improvements and effectively use internal programs.
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting/finance major preferred)
