Security ONE Alarm Systems in Windsor, ON is seeking an Accountant to take ownership of day-to-day accounting and financial reporting while improving processes, reporting, and data use.

Qualifications

• University degree or college diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field.
• At least 3 years of full-cycle accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations and month-end processes.
• Experience with accounting software and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to handle confidential financial and employee information with professionalism.
• Willingness to take ownership and drive process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger activity and maintain accurate financial records.

Compensation: $56,000–$68,000, based on experience

Security ONE Alarm Systems has been protecting homes and businesses across Southwestern Ontario for nearly 50 years. We’re locally owned, locally operated, and have built our reputation one customer at a time.

We’re now looking for an Accountant who wants more than a traditional accounting role.

You’ll take meaningful ownership of day-to-day accounting and financial reporting while also helping us improve how the work gets done — from strengthening processes and reporting to exploring automation, AI-enabled tools, and better use of financial and operational data.

You’ll work directly with our Director of Finance and have the opportunity to make an impact without several layers between you and the decisions.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be responsible for the core accounting work, but we also want someone who naturally looks for a better way to do things.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing general ledger activity and maintaining accurate financial records
• Preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Supporting and taking ownership of month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities
• Preparing monthly and quarterly HST filings and supporting other compliance requirements
• Analyzing financial results and helping identify trends, discrepancies and opportunities for improvement
• Developing and improving internal financial reports, dashboards and management reporting
• Reviewing existing accounting workflows and identifying opportunities to simplify, automate or improve them
• Using Excel and other technology to organize, analyze and present financial and operational data
• Exploring practical uses of AI and automation tools within Finance — including reporting, reconciliations, documentation, data analysis and repeatable administrative processes
• Working with data from multiple business systems and helping improve how information flows between them
• Experience with Payroll and related HR/finance administration as required (ADP experience preferred)
• Working directly with the Director of Finance on financial priorities, projects and process improvements

This is not a role where we expect you to simply follow the same process because “that’s how it has always been done.” We want someone who is comfortable asking whether there is a faster, cleaner or smarter way.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll likely be a strong fit if you have:

• A university degree or college diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field
• At least 3 years of full-cycle accounting experience
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations and month-end processes
• Experience with accounting software and strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsli>
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under deadlines
• The judgment and professionalism required to handle confidential financial and employee information
• A willingness to take ownership, investigate discrepancies and follow issues through to resolution

Extra points if you have experience with:

• Power Query, Power BI or advanced Excel reporting
• SQL, database queries or working directly with larger datasets
• Connecting or reconciling information across different business systems
• Creating dashboards or management reporting
• Workflow automation & AI tooling experience
• Building or improving processes using AI or automation
• Accounting systems implementations, integrations or process improvement projects

You don’t need to be a software developer or AI expert. We’re interested in someone who understands accounting first, but is also curious about how modern tools can make Finance more efficient and useful to the business.
