Job summary

CRWS - Canadian Railway Services is seeking an Accountant to support financial operations across Canada. You will maintain accurate records, manage payables and receivables, and assist with payroll and month-end processes.

You will record transactions, reconcile accounts, and help prepare reports while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement and group benefits.

Qualifications

• Willing to work in accounting and bookkeeping support role with attention to accuracy.
• Experience with accounts payable and receivable processes and GL maintenance.
• Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting is required or highly desirable.
• Experience with payroll support and statutory remittances is an asset.
• Experience with QuickBooks or equivalent accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices and prepare payments according to approvals.
• Issue customer invoices, monitor receivables, and follow up on balances.
• Record day-to-day financial transactions in the accounting system.
• Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and supporting docs.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Support payroll processing and statutory remittances.
• Process employee expense reports and ensure policy compliance.
• Prepare basic financial reports and support audits and reviews.

What You'll Do

As am Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of CRWS by maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the timely processing of accounting transactions.

You will manage accounts payable and receivable activities, support payroll administration, perform reconciliations, and assist with month-end and year-end financial processes. Your attention to detail and commitment to accuracy will help ensure the integrity and reliability of the company's financial information.

Key Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices and prepare payments in accordance with internal approval procedures.
• Issue customer invoices, monitor receivables, and follow up on outstanding accounts.
• Record day-to-day financial transactions in the accounting system.
• Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and supporting documentation.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Support payroll processing and statutory remittances.
• Process employee expense reports and ensure policy compliance.
• Prepare basic financial reports and support audits and financial reviews.

What We're Looking For

• Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping support role.
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks or equivalent systems.
• Experience supporting payroll processes and statutory remittances is an asset.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.
• Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

Working Conditions
