Summary

We are seeking a meticulous and driven Accountant to join our Finance team at the Akash Homes Head Office in Edmonton, Alberta.

The Opportunity

Joining the Akash Homes team is a privilege. Your key role as the Accountant is to ensure the smooth operation of our financial systems. You will manage all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. Due to our growth trajectory, one year at Akash Homes is equivalent to three years elsewhere, presenting unique challenges and opportunities for professional development. What You'll Work On

1. Continuous Improvement: Review and recommend improvements to accounting processes. Lead the implementation of new ERP systems alongside purchasing and scheduling software. Develop and manage user access and internal controls. Maintain documented accounting policies and procedures.
2. Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare monthly reconciliations and supporting documents. Analyze work in progress, G&A expenses, and other financial metrics. Provide management with critical information for decision-making. Develop performance metrics, prepare cost and job reports, and support month-end and year-end closes. Reconcile subledgers and perform intercompany reconciliations.
3. Collaboration and Leadership: Work with operations on cost verification and reporting. Collaborate with leadership on cash flow and financial analysis. Support budgeting efforts. Manage the PO process and mentor junior staff.
4. Compliance and Controls: Maintain accurate records and stay updated on financial regulations. Support external reviews, assist with payroll, and understand tax regulations.

What You'll Bring

• Experience in financial accounting, preferably in construction or real estate.
• Proficiency with Sage (Simply) Accounting software.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or in a team.
