Location Specific Information :

The applicant will be remotely located from a home office in Alberta. Residency is Calgary, Red Deer, or Edmonton required. No relocation assistance provided.

Discover Impactful Work :

An Account Manager (AM) is a key commercial role within the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division (CMD) of Thermo Fisher Scientific. As the Alberta Account Manager, you are responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, handling and developing key accounts, and promoting the CMD product portfolio to customers across various industries. An effective AM will develop and maintain long-lasting customer relationships while working collaboratively and efficiently to provide an outstanding customer experience. The AM is the primary point of contact, providing sales expertise, and driving all commercial activities forward, whether in person or remotely.

A Day in the Life: Selling Agility

  1. Identify and prioritize new client opportunities and develop solution implementation and growth strategies.
  2. Develop and implement creative strategies to increase the share of wallet within existing and competitive accounts by crafting appropriate solutions while demonstrating CMD’s value proposition.
  3. Build positive relationships with decision-makers within accounts.
  4. Manage all elements of the sales cycle: prospecting, qualification, quotations, tenders, contract negotiations, closing, and post-sales relationships.
  5. Use data to create sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and enhance market penetration. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align sales strategies with overall business objectives.

Drive Growth

  1. Expand current account penetration and share of wallet. Grow organically, broader, and deeper with all product lines. Leverage cross-selling activities.
  2. Lead direction for the territory; develop sales strategies to meet plans and expand business within the assigned territory; maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities for year-over-year success.
  3. Utilize internal sales tools to handle leads, prospects, existing accounts, activities, and sales funnel efficiently and accurately.
  4. Monitor competitors and industry activities.

Leadership

  1. Lead teamwork and coordination with technical sales, applications, and service teams to provide technical expertise and advance the sales process.
  2. Coordinate technical presentations and attend trade shows, user meetings, and other customer events, ensuring positive representation of Thermo Fisher Scientific.
  3. Share account information and sales leads within and across divisions.
  4. Demonstrate ability to collaborate, influence, and lead change in a matrix environment.

Keys to Success

Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in the sciences; Master’s degree preferred.

Experience :

  • At least 3 years of successful sales experience in the analytical instrument market.
  • Ideally 2+ years of hands-on instrument knowledge (IC, LC, GC, MS, or ICP).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Ability to explain and sell the technical aspects of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Chromatography, Elemental & Mass Spectrometry product portfolios.
  • Valid driver’s license and record.
  • Strong market knowledge and professional network.
  • Excellent collaboration, analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Highly motivated, strong communicator, concise and accurate presenter.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a matrix environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, including overnight stays, within Alberta and possibly outside.
