Job summary

Red Deer Polytechnic seeks an Accessibility Lead to provide strategic leadership for Accessibility Services. The role oversees daily operations, maintains a specialized caseload, and ensures compliant, equitable accommodations for students across campus.

You will guide decision‑making on Duty to Accommodate and Protected Grounds, collaborating with multiple campus areas to advance universal design and inclusive practices.

Qualifications

• Four-year undergraduate degree or equivalent.
• Master’s degree preferred in Education or Disability Studies.
• Experience managing complex accessibility or Protected Grounds cases.
• Knowledge of Alberta Human Rights legislation and Duty to Accommodate.
• Experience supervising staff and leading a team.
• Excellent communication and advising skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead Accessibility Services team under Associate Dean to recruit, hire, review staff, and escalate issues per policy.
• Plan and assign staff workloads, schedules, and vacation/leave management.
• Direct day‑to‑day operations of direct reports and supervise performance reviews.
• Coordinate orientation and training for employees under supervision.
• Collaborate with Academic Schools and departments to implement accommodations campus‑wide.
• Advance Universal Design for Learning (UDL) through partnerships with Teaching and Learning.
• Address workflow barriers, delays, and documentation concerns within the team.
• Identify student barriers, develop action plans, accommodations, and recommendations for success.
