Job Responsibility:
The Academic Development Lead will be responsible for guiding and supporting RVH's transition into an academic health sciences centre. This role involves developing partnerships with academic institutions, including medical schools and clinical training bodies, to enhance RVH's educational and research capacities. Key responsibilities include:
- Connecting internal RVH education programs (Medical Education and Professional Practice) to develop a joint academic vision.
- Facilitating the expansion of medical and interdisciplinary clinical training programs.
- Developing strategic frameworks for academic growth.
- Coordinating educational initiatives aligned with RVH's long-term vision.
- Serving as the primary liaison between RVH and its academic partners to ensure alignment on educational and research objectives.
- Supporting the development of core rotations, residency programs, and training opportunities that meet accreditation standards.
- Working with senior leadership to integrate academic strategies into RVH's broader organizational goals.
- Contributing to policy development, program evaluation, and strategic planning.
- Staying informed on academic trends, legislative requirements, and best practices to provide strategic leadership.
Responsibilities:
Academic Program Development and Coordination:
- Enhance collaboration between education programs at RVH to align strategies with organizational objectives.
- Develop frameworks and plans to expand educational programs.
- Create reports and analyses to assess the impact of educational expansions.
- Advise on academic curricula design, ensuring compliance with standards.
Partnership Development and Engagement:
- Maintain strong partnerships with academic and clinical institutions.
- Coordinate negotiations and collaborations to expand academic opportunities.
- Identify opportunities for joint programs and research.
- Build relationships with community organizations and regional hospitals.
Program Implementation and Oversight:
- Oversee academic program implementation, resource management, and timeline adherence.
- Monitor outcomes and report to leadership.

- Coordinate accreditation efforts and ensure compliance.
- Integrate academic activities into RVH operations.
Interdepartmental Collaboration and Leadership:
- Collaborate with senior leaders to synchronize initiatives with clinical workflows.
- Support alignment of academic initiatives with clinical excellence and patient care priorities.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Undergraduate degree in Law, Business Administration, Health Administration, or relevant Health Sciences field.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years in a hospital or academic setting, including legal, HR, legislation compliance, or partnership management.
- Minimum 3 years in strategic planning and implementation within healthcare or educational settings.
- At least 3 years of project management experience.
- Proven skills in developing collaborative partnerships and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience with academic frameworks, policies, and compliance (preferred).
