Job Description
Senior Data Analyst with a strong foundation in data engineering and analytics to support digital transformation initiatives by designing robust data pipelines, performing advanced data analysis, and driving insights for service improvement.
Must Have Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, Data Engineer, or similar role.
- 4+ years of experience querying data with Microsoft Transact-SQL Server.
- 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) focusing on scalable data solutions.
- 2+ years of experience with data marts, data warehousing, BI tools (e.g., Power BI, SaaS VA).
- 2+ years of experience with ETL processes and designing/implementing data pipelines.
- 1+ years of experience integrating DevOps practices using CI/CD best practices.
- 1+ years of experience with data pipeline/workflow management tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Talend, API Management).
- 1+ years of experience with object-oriented or scripting languages (e.g., Python, R, Java, Scala, C++).
- 1+ years of experience working within Government of Alberta (GOA) IT infrastructure and services.
- Experience facilitating service metric dashboards and advanced visualizations.
- Familiarity with enhanced security clearance protocols.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable on-premises (e.g., SSIS) and cloud-based (Azure, AWS, GCP) data pipelines.
- Perform detailed exploratory data analysis to identify trends and actionable insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product owners, software engineers, and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations using BI tools like Power BI.
- Implement data governance, security practices, and optimize ETL/ELT workflows.
- Manage data storage solutions such as data lakes and warehouses.
- Support agile delivery teams by providing frequent data-driven insights and metrics.
- Conduct statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and service performance assessments.
- Mentor agile teams to enhance analytics fluency.
- Ensure data-driven decision making in support of service innovation, program review, and digital transformation initiatives.
