GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a hands-on 310T Mechanic in Sudbury to diagnose, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet of heavy trucks, trailers, and equipment.

You will ensure road readiness, complete paperwork, and help maintain safety and compliance in a fast-paced shop. Responsibilities include diagnostics, repairs, safety inspections, tire work, fueling and washing vehicles, and maintaining tools and inventory.

Qualifications

  • Valid Ontario 310T Truck and Coach Technician Certificate
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of working experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Basic hand tools and willingness to secure additional tools as needed

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on heavy trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment
  • Complete required paperwork documenting repairs, parts usage, and repair times
  • Conduct vehicle safety inspections and report deterioration for replacement or repair
  • Tire inspections, removal and replacements
  • Fuel and wash Company vehicles
  • Operate tools and equipment per safety procedures and maintain safe work area
  • Maintain inventory and reporting in M5 program

In this role, you’ll diagnose repair, and maintain a diverse fleet of trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment ensuring every vehicle that leaves the shop is road-ready and compliant. From routine maintenance and safety inspections to troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues, your skills will directly support critical operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on heavy trucks, trailers, and various fleet equipment.
  • Complete required paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
  • Conduct vehicle safety inspections; identify, record, and report equipment deterioration for replacement or repair
  • Tire inspections, removal and replacements
  • Fuel and wash Company vehicles
  • Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to company safety procedures, and follow established techniques to perform
  • Ensure shop equipment and tools are in safe operating condition
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA Standards
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Valid Ontario 310T Truck and Coach Technician Certificate
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of working experience.

  • Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles
  • Ability to follow schedules, instructions, technical manuals and maintenance guidelines, and other procedures associated with the maintenance of the company fleet
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Strong work ethic, demonstrating integrity and trust
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet time sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a team environment or as an individual contributor
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports and associated documents
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Flexibility to accept and adapt to change as well as the commitment to seek continuous improvement
  • Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects (repetitively)
  • Ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example: two arms , two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standing
  • Ability to make simple and repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
  • Knowledge of proper lifting techniques
  • Ability to follow all company safety policies and procedures
Working Conditions

Must work inside and/or outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat. May be exposed to unpleasant sights, smells, and to dangerous and/or toxic substances.

Physical Demands
  • Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, grasping/gripping, and pushing/pulling
  • Work utilizing personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety-toed boot, utility gloves, reflective vest, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, etc.
  • Work outside and inside, around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts. Exposure to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
  • Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, as needed
