  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate an IEP.
  • Experience administering Woodcock Johnson III at Level B.
  • Strong collaboration with Educational Assistants/Child Care Workers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and assistive software.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, supervise and support the work of Educational Assistants/Child Care Workers.
  • Carry out assessments including classroom observation and norm-referenced instruments to Level B.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate an IEP in consultation with classroom teachers, parents and staff.
  • Collaborate to support inclusive classroom practices.
  • Support the school community in fostering an inclusive mindset.

NOTE: This assignment may end prior to the end date, or it may be extended

Qualifications
  • BC Certification
  • Bachelor of Education with a focus on Inclusive Education or equivalent training that includes coursework in the following areas:
  • students with disabilities or diverse abilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • assessment/testing theory and practice
  • strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students
  • principles of UDL and their application in the classroom
  • Previous teaching experience in Inclusive Education at the elementary level
  • Expertise in a wide range of teaching and behavioural management strategies including skill development in social interaction, verbal and non-verbal communication and social skills
  • Knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials suitable for students with a variety of disabilities and diverse abilities
  • Knowledge and understanding of child and youth mental health issues
  • Ability to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods, administration and interpretation of norm-referenced assessment instruments to Level B
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate an IEP in consultation with classroom teacher(s), parents, students, staff and district and community resource personnel
  • Formal training and experience administering Woodcock Johnson III Achievement Test battery
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Sharepoint, Teams, Onenote)
  • Working knowledge of assistive software (Google Read and Write, Orbit Note, Equatio)
  • Working knowledge and ability to facilitate the use of the school's Sensory Lab.
  • Direct, supervise and support the work of Educational Assistants/Child Care Workers
  • An understanding of inclusion and how to support the school community in supporting an inclusive mindset
  • Ability to support, model, co-teach and collaborate around best practice to support an inclusive classroom
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and classroom management skills
