Job summary

Southern Okanagan Secondary School is seeking an Inclusion Support Teacher for a 1.0 FTE temporary position from September 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027 (or earlier return of incumbent). The role focuses on leading in developing and evaluating IEPs and support plans, adapting curriculum for diverse learners, and coordinating with the Student Support Services team.

Qualifications include a teaching degree with a Master’s or Inclusive Education cert, or 5 upper-level courses including Level B

Qualifications

  • Education degree plus a Master’s degree, or an Inclusive Education certificate, or 5 upper-level courses (must include a Level B Assessment course)
  • Recent successful classroom teaching experience in adapting curriculum
  • Ability to lead IEPs, Learning Support Plans, and Annual Instruction plans
  • Select and adapt curriculum and instruction to meet diverse student needs
  • Carry out assessments and interpret norm-referenced instruments to Level B
  • Guide and support education assistant work under the principal’s direction
  • Collaborate with district staff and community agencies
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and classroom management skills
  • Ability to integrate technologies and digital citizenship into educational programs
  • BC Teacher Certification and eligibility for TQS card

Qualifications
  • Education degree plus a Master's degree, or an Inclusive Education certificate, or 5 upper-level courses (must include a Level B Assessment course);
  • recent successful classroom teaching experience in adapting curriculum;
  • ability to:
    • lead in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Individual Education Plans, Learning Support Plans and Annual Instruction plans;
    • select and adapt curriculum, programs, and instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students including those with complex diverse abilities;
    • carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods, and administration and interpretation of norm-referenced assessment instruments to Level B;- guide and support education assistant work under the direction of the school principal and provide leadership to the student support services department;
    • serve as school representatives when consulting with school district staff and community agencies;
  • effective communication, interpersonal, organizational and classroom management skills;
  • ability to integrate technologies and digital citizenship into educational programs; and
  • BC Professional Teaching Certificate and current eligibility for Teacher Qualification Service card.
