Job summary

AMBICO is seeking a Machine Operator to join the Production Team. The role requires operating assigned machines safely to cut parts, program laser jobs, and ensure quality across all outputs.

The position is onsite five days a week, Monday through Friday, with a 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM shift, based in Ottawa, Ontario. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, CNC exposure, and ability to read blueprints; training on crane/hoist is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• CNC operator diploma/certificate is an asset.
• Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings.
• Experience following standard operating procedures and safety procedures.
• At least 1 year in manufacturing environment.
• Ability to complete Crane/Hoist training.

Responsibilities

• Program (nest) jobs to be cut on laser using software to create programs.
• Check parts produced to ensure they meet established quality standards.
• Operate crane for loading material and manually load materials as required.
• Operate laser cutter and press brakes.
• Perform start/stop and process programming at the machine; troubleshoot.
• Die set up and change.
• Perform first level maintenance including calibration and daily safety checks.
• Follow safety procedures around moving parts of the laser and machine.
• Handle other related duties as assigned.

About the role

The Machine Operator is a member of the Production Team with responsibility for operating assigned machines safely, accurately, and efficiently to cut parts to meet production needs.

This is a new position being staffed which requires the individual to be onsite five(5) days a week, Monday - Friday 2:30PM to 11:00PM.

What you'll do

• Programming (nesting) jobs to be cut on laser: using software to create a program for each part to be cut.
• Checking the parts produced to ensure they meet established quality standards.
• Operating crane for loading material on table; manually loads materials as required.
• Operating laser cutter and press brakes
• start and shutdown,
• process program (generate program at the machine for press brakes) troubleshooting,
• die set up and change.
• Perform first level maintenance on the machine to ensure it is operating properly, including calibration and daily safety checks on the machine.
• Following safety procedures, especially around moving parts of the laser (loading table, laser head when doing maintenance).
• Other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent knowledge and experience.

• CNC Operator Diploma/Certificate, post-secondary courses or comparable certification, is an asset.
• Experience working with a CNC machine is an asset.
• Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and instructions.
• Experience following standard operating procedures and adhering to workplace health and safety procedures.
• At least 1 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to complete Crane/Hoist training.

• Ability to lift 23 kilograms (50 lbs)
