What you'll do
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, you will:
- Oversee NSCC's waste management program, including technical and environmental hazardous assessment projects, supporting initiatives related to sustainability, climate change, and environmental risk management.
- Support creating a healthy learning and working environment by maintaining and improving the College's sustainability initiatives.
- Review and develop sustainability designs for new constructions and renovations, manage LEED certification processes, and assist with implementing the College's Climate Change Action Plan.
- Manage and report on environmental risks such as hazardous materials, indoor air quality, Legionella, water quality, and climate change, including conducting waste audits and developing waste management goals.
What you'll needQualifications and Occupational Experience:- Relevant degree or diploma in an environmental discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution. Accreditation in waste management and certifications like LEED AP or EP are required.
- Minimum of 5 years of related occupational experience.
- Experience with LEED construction projects, narrative writing, and data compilation for LEED certification.
- Project management experience is an asset.
- Experience with environmental hazards such as water quality, asbestos, and air quality is an asset.
- Experience with sustainability certification programs like STARS and BOMA BEst.
- Strong technical proficiency with databases and MS Office Suite.
- Comfortable working in digital environments and committed to technological advancement.
- Experience in designing and facilitating training programs related to waste management, asbestos awareness, water resources, and sustainability accreditation is an asset.
