Salary range: $72,800 to $85,647.06 annually

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a relevant degree or diploma from recognized post-secondary institution in environmental related discipline. Accreditation in waste management would be considered an asset. A Certification as a LEED Associate Professional ( LEED AP), and/or Environmental Professional (EP), or equivalent is required.
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of recent and related occupational experience.
  • Experience in working on LEED construction projects, composing LEED narratives, and compiling data to achieve LEED is also essential.
  • Project management experience would be considered an asset.
  • Occupational experience that includes expertise in environmental hazard analysis, specifically water quality, asbestos, and air quality would be considered an asset.
  • You have experience working with sustainability certification programs, such as STARS and BOMA Best
  • Demonstrated strong technical proficiency with technology, including familiarity with databases, and the full suite of MS Office Suite (including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
  • Ability and experience in designing and facilitating training programs/sessions in waste auditor training, asbestos awareness training, water resources training, and accreditation in waste management and sustainability would be an asset.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager you will:

  • Oversee NSCC's waste management program, handling technical and environmental hazardous assessment projects and supporting initiatives related to the College's sustainability agenda, climate change, and environmental risk management. Your work is pivotal in enhancing the College's infrastructure and sustainability performance.
  • Support creating a healthy and inviting learning and working environment. By maintaining and improving the College's sustainability agenda, we uphold our commitment to using our campuses as a living lab and setting a benchmark for our learners
  • Review and develop sustainability designs for new construction and renovation projects and will be responsible for managing the LEED certification processes for new construction. The EET will work with a team to develop and implement sustainability plans for the College through goal setting, strategic development, reporting, and sustainability certification maintenance. This position will assist with implementing the College's Climate Change Action Plan.
  • Manage and report environmental risks including, but not limited to, hazardous building materials, indoor air quality, Legionella, water quality, and climate change. The EET will manage and implement the waste management program by conducting waste audits annually and using that data to develop and improve NSCC's waste management goals through innovative infrastructure improvements and education.
