Job summary

The Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) is seeking Elementary Emergency Supply Teacher candidates to cover daily absences across Perth and Huron counties for grades K–8. Emergency teachers are notified on the day of the vacancy and work as needed.

Start date is immediate, with a 10‑month schedule (Sept–June). The role pays a daily rate of $292.63. English proficiency, OCT policies, and quick availability are essential.

Please note:

• Candidates in Good Standing with the Ontario College Teachers (OCT), Year 5 and/or 6 of Concurrent Ed, Year 1 and/or 2 of Consecutive Ed must apply to the Elementary Occasional Teacher's List

Location: Clinton, Exeter, Goderich, Listowel, Mitchell, Stratford, St. Mary's, Wingham and surrounding areas within Huron and Perth Counties

Start Date: Immediately

Work Schedule: 10 Months/Year (September-June) as required.

Rate of Pay: $292.63 daily rate, as of September 1, 2026.

Position Summary:

The AMDSB is currently seeking Elementary (Grades K-8) Emergency Teacher Candidates to fill in for the daily absences of classroom teachers in a variety of schools throughout the AMDSB Region (Perth and Huron Counties). Emergency Teacher Candidates are notified on the day of the vacancy.

Requirements:

Prior to starting employment as an Elementary Emergency Supply Teacher applicants will be:

• In Year 1-4 of a Concurrent Education Program
• As we are an English board, oral and written English proficiency is required.
• Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (dated within six months).
• Emergency Teachers must be available for half or single day occasional teacher coverage on last minute notice.
• Proven ability to maintain discipline in the classroom (classroom management).
• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Experience working with G-Suite (Gmail, Google Classroom, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.) products.
