Job summary

Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) seeks a Supply Educational Assistant for casual/occasional daily assignments. Start date is asap, with hours Monday–Friday, September to June. Compensation includes daily rate and long-term rate with vacation pay per OSSTF-ESSP.

Supply Educational Assistant
(Daily Occasional/Long-Term Assignment)

The Avon Maitland District School Board is seeking individuals who are passionate about supporting students with diverse needs and providing age appropriate learning environments inside our schools.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Hours of Work: Casual/Call-in basis, Monday - Friday, from September to June (10 months)

Compensation Package Details

Daily Rate: $27.16 per hour + vacation pay as outlined in the OSSTF-ESSP Collective Agreement

Long-Term Assignment Rate: $28.11 per hour + vacation payas outlined in the OSSTF-ESSP Collective Agreement

Pension Plan : Defined pension plan through the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System ( OMERS )

Core Responsibilities
  • Apply Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) strategies to promote positive behavior (training provided)
  • Assist with physical mobility, positioning, lifting, equipment transfers, and personal care (e.g., toileting).
  • Foster safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality standards with student, staff and school information
Qualifications
  • 2 year Educational Support Diploma or equivalent board-recognized experience (Degree/Diploma in Child & Youth Care, Developmental Services, Social Work, or a related field).
  • Experience supporting students with special needs or behavioural challenges is an asset and school-based experience is considered an asset;
  • Flexibility, patience, empathy and the ability to work closely with students with complex needs, classroom teacher, and Administration;
  • Candidates must be capable of performing the essential physical duties of the position, such as running/walking on uneven ground, lifting, positioning and transferring children and equipment and utilizing Behaviour Management System techniques where required;
  • Reliable transportation and availability for on-call/casual shifts with short notice.
  • Note – a Criminal Reference Check is part of the requirement process.
