Job summary

Meston Group Waste Division is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to learn and perform maintenance on trucks and trailers under the guidance of a Senior Red Seal Mechanic. The role emphasizes safety, hands-on learning, and adherence to company policies. Work location is in Peace River, AB, in person.

The apprentice will are involved in cleaning, inspection, lubrication, and preventive maintenance, with opportunities to develop skills and progress toward certification.

Qualifications

• Apprentice role requires basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Experience with mechanical tasks is a plus.
• Mechanical experience preferred (1 year) if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform truck and trailer service under the supervision of the Senior Red Seal Mechanic.
• Inspect equipment for proper fluid levels and replace filters as needed.
• Lubricate equipment and conduct routine preventive maintenance on trucks and trailers.
• Identify and report mechanic issues and assist with future repair planning.

Job description

As a Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice , you will perform some or all of these duties as trained and directed by our Senior Red Seal Mechanic.

Completion of truck & trailer service and repairs and ensuring readiness for shop departure.

Inspect equipment for proper fluid levels, add fluids as necessary and replace filters.

Lubricate equipment.

Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on all trucks & trailers.

Identify and report mechanic issues to senior mechanic.

Advise senior mechanic on work performed, general equipment condition and future repair requirements.

Maintain records and reports of all maintenance performed.

Observe all common safety practices.

Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Abide by all company policies and safety regulations.
