Job summary

Oilking Services Inc. is seeking a motivated 2nd/3rd year Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to join our shop in Edmonton. You will work with journeyman mechanics on truck and trailer maintenance, diagnostics, and basic repairs in a fast-paced oilfield environment.

This role is highly physical, outdoors in all weather, lifting up to 50 lbs, and requires a valid class 5 license, enrollment as an apprentice, and a diploma or GED. Opportunities for hands-on learning and career progression are offered.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or GED required.
  • Proof of enrollment as a registered apprentice; minimum 2nd year.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license with clean driving record.
  • 2+ years experience in a heavy duty truck and trailer mechanic shop or similar environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic maintenance and repair on vehicles and trailers including brake systems, suspension, and basic electrical.
  • Work with journeyman mechanics to troubleshoot, diagnose, and fix faults or malfunctions.
  • Complete service reports and maintain accurate records as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Comply with safety standards and safely operate hand and power tools, welding and cutting equipment.

Job Overview

We're excited to announce an opportunity for a new addition to the Oilking Services Mechanic Shop. We are posting a job ad for a Truck and Trailer Mechanic Apprentice (2nd/3rd year).

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform basic maintenance and repair on vehicles and trailers including brake systems, suspension, and basic electrical
  • Work together with journeyman mechanics to troubleshoot, diagnose, and fix faults or malfunctions.
  • Complete service reports and maintain accurate records as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Comply with all company safety standards and safely operate hand and power tools, welding, and cutting equipment.

Other duties as assigned.

This is a highly physical position that will require working outdoors in all types of weather, the repeated use of hand and power tools and the ability to lift 50lbs or more.

Qualifications
  • Diploma or GED.
  • Proof of enrollment as a registered apprentice; minimum 2nd year.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license with clean driving record.
  • 2+ years experience working within a heavy duty truck and trailer mechanic shop or similar environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.A strong sense of urgency and the ability to adapt to varying schedules and situations.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
