Job summary

A community-focused employment agency in Ontario is looking for an Alternative Care Worker to provide protection and care for children, engaging in Alternative Care and Adoption duties per government regulations. Job description

Position Overview

The Alternative Care Worker is responsible for providing the protection and care of children by performing duties of Alternative Care and Adoption as may be required, in accordance with provisions of the Child and Family Services Act, Ministry Regulations and Standards, Abuse Protocols, and Dilico Anishinabek Family Care policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • A minimum two-year Human Services Worker Diploma
  • A three-year BSW is preferred
  • A minimum two years experience with Anishinabek children, youth, individuals, families and communities
  • Preferably Child Welfare experience
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Search, Vulnerable Sector Screen
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to travel regularly
  • Ability to act on an “on-call” basis as determined by the respective Service Manager in relation to service requirements
  • Must possess a Class “G” Driver’s License with $1 million liability insurance
  • Possess a clean driving record and have access to a personal vehicle which will pass a safety inspection
  • Candidates without the specific education qualifications and where the position does not require certified qualification to practice, but who possess an appropriate combination of experience and other academic qualifications will also be considered

Hours of Work: 32.5 hours per week

Salary Range: $30.93 To 40.36 Hourly
