Volvo do Brasil is seeking an experienced engineering professional to lead steering systems development for regional and global commercial vehicle platforms. You will define system requirements, drive verification strategies, and collaborate across functions and locations.

You will join the Vehicle Motion and Vehicle Dynamics group within Trucks Technology & Industrial, work with suppliers, coach teammates, and help advance safe, sustainable transport solutions.

Qualificações

• Extensive experience in steering systems development in the automotive industry.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics, steering technologies, and system integration.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical activities with suppliers and internal teams.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Responsabilidades

• Lead development and application of steering systems for regional/global vehicle platforms.

• Drive root-cause investigations, DFMEA, and product quality improvements.

What you will do

You will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. You will:

• Lead the development and application of steering systems for regional and global commercial vehicle platforms
• Define system requirements, technical solutions, and verification & validation strategies throughout the product lifecycle.
• Drive technical problem solving, root cause investigations, DFMEA activities, and product quality improvements.
• Lead supplier development and technical alignment activities to ensure robust and competitive solutions.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams across multiple functions and locations.
• Contribute to steering technology roadmaps and future product strategies.
• Coach and support colleagues by actively sharing knowledge and promoting engineering excellence.

Your Future Team

You will join the Vehicle Motion and Vehicle Dynamics group within Function and Software Defined Vehicles. We are a collaborative engineering team responsible for developing systems and components for local truck applications and global vehicle platforms.

We value technical excellence, teamwork, transparency, continuous improvement, and lifelong learning. You will have the opportunity to lead challenging engineering activities, influence future technology direction, develop your specialist competence, and support the growth of others through coaching and knowledge sharing.

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a related field.
• Extensive experience in the development of steering systems within the automotive industry.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics, steering technologies, and system integration.
• Proven experience leading complex technical activities involving cross-functional teams and suppliers.
• Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Nice to have

• Experience with electrohydraulic steering systems, ADAS, or driver assistance technologies
• Knowledge of Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and safety-critical system development.
• Experience with verification & validation methodologies and vehicle testing.
• Familiarity with CAN communication and vehicle measurement or diagnostic tools.
