Job Description

The Amazon Finance Technology Team is hiring a Software Development Manager in São Paulo. This role involves leading a high-performing engineering team in designing and developing scalable web services and systems. The FinTech team builds tax compliance software to support Amazon’s operations in Brazil.

We operate like a startup within Amazon, offering flexibility in product and technology direction. As a team leader, you will operate at all levels, diving deep into details while providing strategic input. You will drive strategic planning, project execution, talent development, and product operation and improvement.

You will establish and execute a long-term architectural roadmap and continually improve our product’s efficiency and flexibility. We hold high standards for site performance, scalability, and availability.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of engineering experience
• 8+ years leading the design and development of multi-tier web services
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the full software/hardware/network development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements, describe features, and define product strategy
• Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve skills and effectiveness

Key Responsibilities

• Manage projects through all software development stages—from requirements to deployment, supporting Amazon’s tax customers
• Evaluate and leverage AWS technologies such as Lambda, Fargate, EMR, SNS/SQS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RedShift, S3, and others to build scalable solutions
• Design and implement technical solutions using Java, Spark, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and other languages to deliver value to customers
