Senior Managing Consultant, Services Business Development - Overview

The Services Business Development team is a key differentiator for Mastercard, providing cutting-edge services that help our customers grow. Focused on thinking big and scaling fast around the globe, this agile team is responsible for end-to-end solutions for a diverse global customer base. We combine traditional management consulting with our rich data assets and in-house technology to provide our clients with powerful strategic insights and recommendations.

While specializing in the payments industry, the Services team also works closely with major retailers, airlines, and other enterprises, leveraging data and insights garnered from within and beyond its network.

Role

The Senior Managing Consultant (SMC) - Business Development is responsible for managing the relationship of Mastercard Advisors with some of its key clients, by developing a deep understanding of client strategic needs, developing and overseeing the delivery of consulting projects aimed at improving clients’ payments businesses and operations. The SMC manages an internal team of consultants and/or third-party vendors, maintaining the day-to-day relationship with clients and Mastercard internal stakeholders, ensuring quality of deliverables, and developing & delivering presentations.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Shape growth strategy in Brazil with division lead and business development team and ensure its execution.
  2. Identify critical client problems and craft relevant solutions leveraging Data & Services expertise and existing capabilities.
  3. Lead business development team in creating tailored sales pitches for clients.
  4. Deliver persuasive sales presentations to senior client executives.
  5. Build relationships with senior/executive level client management.
  6. Partner with project teams to ensure quality and identify follow-up sales opportunities.
  7. Contribute to the creation of new Intellectual Capital and act as a “thought partner” for clients.
  8. Participate in recruiting, training, and developing team members.
  9. Align efforts with Mastercard’s core team for sales success, managing external obstacles and maintaining leadership support.

All About You:

Education Needed:

  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • MBA or relevant postgraduate degree recommended.

Professional Experience and Skills:

  • Consulting experience from a top-rated consulting firm.
  • Knowledge and experience working in financial institutions and/or merchants (Retailers/Telcos).
  • Payments/Cards expertise is an advantage.
  • Proven sales expertise is a strong plus.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop, and close sales.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in Portuguese and English.
  • Ability to develop compelling sales narratives to influence closure.
  • Supportive of Business Development and project delivery teams in developing analysis strategies.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Customer-centric thinking.
  • Advanced skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Degrees from leading universities, including MBA or other postgraduate qualifications.
