MTC Consulting Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to build and develop the company’s software and testing capabilities from the ground up.

You will work closely with Test, Hardware and Product Engineers to translate testing requirements into reliable and user-friendly software solutions, leveraging Python and GUI experience with PyQt/PySide.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
• 5+ years of software development experience, preferably desktop/testing software.
• Strong Python programming skills with good software practices.
• Hands-on with PyQt / PySide or other Python GUI frameworks.
• Experience with MySQL / SQL and database apps.
• Knowledge of C/C++ is a plus; familiarity with hardware interfaces is helpful.

Responsabilidades

• Develop, debug and maintain Python-based software for silicon photonics testing.
• Create desktop apps and GUI using PyQt / PySide for testing and data visualization.
• Develop automated test tools and scripts for data acquisition and analysis.
• Interface software with testing hardware to collect test data (optical/electrical).
• Manage MySQL / SQL databases for test data storage and retrieval.
• Document design, interface, test and user documentation to ensure traceability.
• Collaborate with Test, Hardware, Product and Engineering teams to resolve issues.

Job Summary

We are looking for a hands‑on Software Engineer who can help build and develop the company’s software and test application capabilities from the ground up.

The ideal candidate should be able to work closely with Test, Hardware and Product Engineers to understand testing requirements and translate them into reliable and user‑friendly software solutions.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop, debug and maintain Python-based software applications for silicon photonics chip and optical component testing.

• Develop desktop applications and graphical user interfaces (GUI) using PyQt / PySide to support testing, equipment control and data visualization.

• Develop automated test tools and scripts for data acquisition, testing and analysis.

• Interface software with testing equipment and hardware to collect and process optical and electrical test data, including optical power, current, voltage and S-parameters.

• Design and maintain MySQL / SQL databases for test data storage, retrieval and management.

• Support communication between software and testing equipment through interfaces such as Ethernet, SPI, PCIe or other hardware communication protocols.

• Develop data analysis and visualization functions to support test results, troubleshooting and process improvement.

• Prepare and maintain software design, interface, test and user documentation to ensure a standardized and traceable development process.

• Work closely with Test, Hardware, Product and Engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and improve testing systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Communications Engineering or a related discipline.

• 5+ years of software development experience, preferably in desktop applications, test software, automation or equipment-related software.

• Strong programming skills in Python with good software development practices.

• Hands‑on experience with PyQt / PySide or other Python GUI frameworks is highly preferred.

• Experience with MySQL / SQL and database application development.

• Experience in desktop application development, automated testing, data acquisition or test system development.

• Knowledge of C/C++ is an advantage.

• Familiarity with hardware communication protocols such as Ethernet, SPI, PCIe or eMMC is preferred.

• Experience working with testing equipment, semiconductor equipment, optical / electrical testing or automated test systems is an advantage.

• Good problem‑solving, communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience with PyQt, PySide or other Python‑based GUI / desktop application frameworks.

• Experience developing test automation software, data acquisition tools or engineering applications.

• Experience integrating software with laboratory instruments, semiconductor equipment or external hardware.

• Familiarity with hardware and communication interfaces such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, SPI, PCIe, USB, GPIB, VISA or SCPI.

• Experience with optical, electrical, RF or semiconductor testing is an advantage.

• Knowledge of silicon photonics, photonics, optoelectronics or semiconductor manufacturing is a plus.

• Experience with C/C++ or other programming languages is advantageous.

• Experience with software architecture, API integration, version control (Git) and software testing practices.
