SAP Basis Lead

Position overview: This role resides in the SAP Center of Excellence organization, which is responsible for Ball SAP applications globally. This role has responsibility leading projects, business as usual and operational support involving the SAP technical area, such as hosting services for SAP in Azure, SAP Basis, Services Management having the ability to translate business requirements into ITS specifications, technical design and configuration.

Key responsibilities include:

• The Technical Enablement Lead role is responsible for the SAP Hosting services, SAP Basis Services and Vendor management at Ball.
• This role is focused on operations including SAP on the Azure Cloud, as well as SAP Basis and SAP SecOps.
• It is part of this role the delivery of projects related to the SAP Technical Ecosystem, such as: Software Lifecycle Management (Upgrades), SAP SecOps(Remediation).
• Position requires a strong internal stakeholder relationship dealing with multiple ITS areas as well as project SteerCo and business partners.
• Ability to translate Business requirements into ITS SAP Technical deliverables, solution design, technical coordination throughout end-to-end.
• The Technical Enablement Lead role is responsible for adherence to global strategic platform guidelines.
• Responsible for impact analysis of process improvement efforts; provides leadership in the implementation and execution of technology solutions to complex business problems.
• Defines cross-system solutions which map to re-engineered business processes.
• Provide planning, estimates, application development, documentation, and support leadership using technology best practices.
• Works closely with other ITS resources, business stakeholders, and third-parties ensure solutions support business requirements and capabilities.
• This role has an obligation to fully understand the Demand and Change Management Processes, associated SLA’s and ITS Standard operating procedures.
• To produce complete and meaningful High Level Estimates (HLE’s) based on demand requests .
• Participates as a key contributor in the design and development of complex applications and projects and is the expert in the technology selected.
• Accountable to drive and ensure SAP Technical deliverables are complete based on defined timelines .
• Responsible for detailed specifications, derives estimates, and assigns component development tasks to the onshore/offshore development teams.
• Responsible for knowledge transfer to ITS operations.
• Responsible for participating on operational readiness review , Disaster Recovery & Business continuity
• To ensure ongoing support of deployed solutions is handled in the correct manner from both a Business and Ball ITS perspective, therefore minimizing Business impact

What are we looking for:

• Completed Bachelor's Degree
• 10+ years of experience in SAP technical operations (SAP BASIS), including system administration, performance tuning, and lifecycle management (upgrades, patches, system refreshes)
• Proven experience leading SAP environments in global organizations, with exposure to multi-region operations (EMEA and Americas) and distributed teams
• Hands‑on experience with SAP hosting environments (preferably SAP on Azure or similar cloud platforms), including high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery concepts
• Strong understanding of IT service management and delivery frameworks, including SLA/OLA governance and incident/problem/change management (ITIL knowledge desirable)
• Experience managing vendors and external partners, ensuring service quality, accountability, and alignment with business objectives
• Solid understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, testing strategies, release management, and quality assurance practices
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and coordinate across technical and business teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, with fluent English (written and spoken) required for global collaboration
