Lever, Inc. is seeking a mid-level Pessoa Desenvolvedora Back-end PL | Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento in Brazil. The role blends backend engineering with AI research, data analysis, and experimental validation in a research-focused setting.

You will explore new technologies, build proofs of concept, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams while mentoring junior engineers and interns. Remote work is supported with optional in-person offices in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

Qualificações

• Backend software development experience with solid design and implementation skills.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of backend engineering, data, artificial intelligence, and technology research.
You will explore emerging technologies, conduct experiments, and develop proofs of concept that can shape future technical solutions.
The position is part of a research-oriented environment where investigation, testing, documentation, and technical validation are central to the work.
You will analyze complex data and technical challenges, using evidence and experimentation to identify scalable and effective solutions.
The role also provides exposure to cloud infrastructure, multiparadigm databases, data pipelines, APIs, and AI-based applications.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute technical knowledge while supporting the development of junior engineers and interns.

Accountabilities

• Research and evaluate emerging technologies by conducting experiments, technical tests, feasibility studies, and proofs of concept.
• Develop and validate backend and technology solutions while balancing speed, robustness, scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Collect, structure, and analyze complex technical data, interpreting results and using evidence to recommend solutions to project challenges.
• Investigate and evaluate different database technologies and architectures, considering performance, scalability, security, use cases, and projected costs.
• Develop and test solutions involving artificial intelligence, identifying practical applications and assessing the feasibility of AI-driven approaches.
• Build and integrate data pipelines and RESTful APIs as part of research projects and technical experiments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure research initiatives and technical solutions address defined requirements and business needs.
• Produce clear technical documentation covering technology comparisons, performance results, scalability considerations, security implications, and cost projections.
• Present demonstrations and technical findings clearly to stakeholders and engineering teams responsible for taking validated solutions into production.
• Support junior professionals and interns through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentorship.
• Contribute to technical and strategic discussions by bringing research findings and validated evidence into decision-making processes.

Requirements

• Professional experience in backend software development, with a solid foundation in designing and implementing technical solutions.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure, particularly services such as EC2, SQS, and S3.
• Practical experience developing or implementing solutions based on artificial intelligence.
• Knowledge of multiparadigm database architectures, including relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL and NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB, as well as columnar, graph, or key-value databases.
• Understanding of how to evaluate and select database technologies according to different technical use cases and requirements.
• Experience developing data pipelines and integrating or consuming RESTful APIs.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to investigate complex technical problems, interpret experimental results, and formulate evidence-based recommendations.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary environments and communicate technical concepts to audiences with different levels of technical expertise.
• Strong organization and prioritization skills, particularly when managing multiple research initiatives, experiments, and deliverables.
• Ability to document technical findings clearly and communicate results through presentations and demonstrations.
• Collaborative mindset with an interest in sharing knowledge and supporting the technical growth of junior professionals and interns.
