The Medical Information Specialist position provides technical and medical information and/or handles intake of adverse events/product complaints with high-quality customer service. The role involves analyzing and researching inquiries, documenting interactions according to organizational, customer, and regulatory guidelines. The level of information provided will align with the individual's expertise, experience, and training.

Summarized Purpose:

  • Provide technical and medical information and handle intake of adverse events/product complaints with quality customer service.
  • Analyze and research inquiries, documenting interactions per organizational, client, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Tailor information to the individual's expertise, experience, and training level.

Essential Functions:

  • Respond accurately and professionally to technical and medical inquiries via phone, email, internet, or mail regarding pharmaceutical or device products. Support clinical trials and provide after-hours on-call support.
  • Analyze caller questions to formulate accurate, concise responses using approved resources, and record interactions in appropriate databases following guidelines.
  • Identify, record, and triage adverse events and product complaints, providing follow-up support as needed.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of project and corporate policies, including client products, SOPs, protocols, GCPs, and regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with internal and external contacts, including client management, to resolve complex inquiries. Research medical literature and draft responses when necessary.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with relevant formal academic or vocational qualifications. At least 6 months of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Native Portuguese speaker.
  • Strong English skills in reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking.
  • Solid computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to interpret medical and technical information provided by clients.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor in challenging situations.
