Alignerr is seeking an Environmental Science Expert (AI Training) to develop advanced, real-world problems that train AI models to reason about environmental challenges.

Masters or PhD required; fully remote hourly contract (10-40 hours/week). You will apply climate modeling, ecology, sustainability, or related disciplines and code in Python or R for research tasks, collaborating asynchronously with AI researchers while ensuring scientific rigor.

About The Role

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for working scientists and researchers. No AI background required - just deep domain expertise and a commitment to scientific rigor.

What You'll Do

• Develop, solve, and review advanced environmental science problems with real-world relevance and complexity
• Apply your expertise in climate modeling, ecology, sustainability, or related disciplines to design challenging, high-quality problem sets
• Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to sharpen AI model reasoning
• Ensure scientific rigor, accuracy, and depth across every deliverable you produce
• Work independently on task-based assignments - fully on your own schedule

Who You Are

• Holds a Master's or PhD in Environmental Science or a closely related field
• Strong expertise in at least one of: climate modeling, ecology, sustainability, environmental systems, or similar areas
• Comfortable coding in Python or R for research or analytical work
• Exceptional written communicator with a sharp eye for scientific accuracy and detail
• Self-motivated and reliable when working independently
• Fluent in English

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with data annotation, data quality evaluation, or AI training workflows
• Familiarity with interdisciplinary environmental research spanning multiple subfields
• Background in peer review, academic publishing, or technical writing
