Alignerr is seeking an Atmospheric Science Expert to design and evaluate advanced problems that train AI models to reason about climate dynamics and ecosystems.

This remote hourly contract invites specialists with a Master's or PhD and strong Python or R skills to work asynchronously with AI researchers.

You will help ensure scientific accuracy, depth, and clarity in every deliverable, with opportunities for ongoing engagements.

About The Role

We're looking for Atmospheric Science experts to develop and evaluate advanced scientific problems that train the next generation of AI models to reason at a graduate level and beyond.

What You'll Do

• Design, solve, and critically review advanced atmospheric science problems with real-world scientific relevance
• Apply your expertise in climate modeling, meteorology, ecology, or sustainability to build complex, nuanced problem sets
• Evaluate AI-generated scientific reasoning for accuracy, depth, and methodological rigor
• Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to improve model performance
• Ensure all deliverables meet high standards of scientific clarity, precision, and depth

Who You Are

• Holds a Master's or PhD in Atmospheric Science, Climate Science, Environmental Science, or a closely related field
• Experienced with Python or R for scientific research or data analysis
• Deep subject matter expertise in one or more of: climate modeling, atmospheric dynamics, ecology, or sustainability science
• Exceptionally clear written communicator — you can explain complex ideas with precision and accessibility
• Self-directed and dependable when working independently in an asynchronous environment
• Fluent in English and based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with data annotation, data quality evaluation, or AI training workflows
• Background in academic research, peer review, or scientific publishing
• Familiarity with AI tools or machine learning concepts as an end user or researcher
• Experience communicating technical findings to non-specialist audiences
