Alignerr is seeking a Chemistry Researcher (Masters/PhD) to shape AI reasoning through advanced chemistry problems. This fully remote, hourly contract role focuses on organic, inorganic, physical, and computational chemistry, with tasks running asynchronously.

You will design challenging problems, review AI-generated solutions for scientific rigor, and collaborate with AI researchers to improve model performance while maintaining precise scientific clarity.

About The Role

What if your deep knowledge of chemistry — the years of graduate study, the lab work, the problem-solving — could directly shape how AI reasons through the most complex scientific questions in the world?

We're looking for Chemistry experts with Masters or PhD-level training to help build and evaluate advanced AI models. You'll design and solve challenging chemistry problems that push AI to think with real scientific rigor — across organic, inorganic, physical, and computational chemistry.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No AI background needed — just exceptional chemistry expertise and a sharp, methodical mind.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop complex, real-world chemistry problems across organic, inorganic, physical, or computational domains
• Solve and critically review advanced chemistry problems to ensure scientific accuracy and depth
• Evaluate AI-generated chemistry reasoning and flag errors, gaps, or oversimplifications
• Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to improve model performance
• Ensure scientific rigor, clarity, and precision across all deliverables
• Work independently on task-based assignments, fully on your own schedule

Who You Are

• Holds a Master's or PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field
• Deep expertise in one or more of the following: organic, inorganic, physical, or computational chemistry
• Comfortable working with Python or computational chemistry tools such as Gaussian or VASP
• Exceptionally clear written communicator — able to explain complex concepts with precision
• Detail-oriented, self-directed, and consistent when working independently
• Fluent in English

Nice to Have

• Experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation workflows
• Background in scientific writing, peer review, or curriculum development
• Familiarity with AI tools or machine learning concepts
• Cross-disciplinary expertise spanning multiple chemistry subfields
