KAST seeks a Compliance Director to lead regulatory efforts in Brazil as we pursue VASP licensing. You’ll architect local compliance, liaise with regulators, and own the license as Director. You’ll translate global product innovation into Brazil-ready features, overseeing onboarding, KYC/AML, and reporting.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in compliance/risk, strong leadership, and deep knowledge of BCB/CVM rules. Law or related degree with CAMS/ACAMS is preferred.

Qualificações

  • 8+ years in compliance, legal, or risk within financial services/fintech.
  • Proven leadership as a Compliance Officer or MLRO in Brazil.
  • Deep understanding of BCB/CVM regulations and evolving VASP landscape.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or related field; CAMS/ACAMS preferred.

Responsabilidades

  • Own VASP license application and ensure documentation meets BCB/CVM standards.
  • Serve as regulatory liaison with Brazilian authorities and coordinate inspections.
  • Act as KAST Director for local license and assume related legal responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with Legal and Product teams to translate Brazilian regulations into compliant features.
  • Oversee AML/CFT as MLRO and ensure timely reporting to authorities.
  • Develop and maintain internal policies including Compliance Manual and Ethics Code.

Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Compliance Director to lead our regulatory efforts in Brazil. As we navigate the licensing process to become a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP), you will serve as the primary architect of our local compliance framework and the official face of the company to Brazilian regulators.

This role is critical for our expansion, requiring a blend of deep regulatory expertise, leadership, and the ability to bridge the gap between global product innovation and local legal requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • VASP License Application: Take full ownership of the compliance components for our VASP application, ensuring all documentation and processes meet the standards set by the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB) and the CVM.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for Brazilian regulatory bodies. You will manage inspections, respond to inquiries, and build a proactive relationship with local authorities.
  • Statutory Leadership: Serve as the KAST (Director) for our local license, assuming the legal and professional responsibilities associated with this designated role.
  • Product Adaptation: Collaborate closely with the Legal and Product teams to translate complex Brazilian regulations into actionable product features. You will ensure our offerings (onboarding, KYC/AML, reporting) are "compliant by design."
  • AML/CFT Oversight: Act as the local Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), overseeing the monitoring of suspicious activities and ensuring timely reporting to COAF.
  • Framework Maintenance: Develop, implement, and maintain internal policies, including the Compliance Manual and Code of Ethics, ensuring they evolve alongside changing local laws.
What You’ll Bring
Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in compliance, legal, or risk management within the financial services or fintech sector.
  • Leadership: Proven track record as a Compliance Officer or MLRO, specifically within the Brazilian market.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Brazilian Central Bank (BCB) regulations, CVM guidelines, and the evolving VASP regulatory landscape (Law 14.478/22).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced certifications (e.g., CAMS, ACAMS, or specialized Brazilian compliance certifications) are highly preferred.
Skills & Competencies
  • Bilingual Proficiency: fluency in English and Portuguese is required to communicate effectively with both local regulators and our global leadership team.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to interpret "gray areas" in new crypto regulations and provide sound, risk-based advice to the business.
  • Integrity: Unquestionable professional ethics, as you will hold a position of significant legal accountability.
