Job Summary
Support the productivity of current vision inspection systems in the manufacturing process to improve process control and finished goods quality. Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems on vision inspection systems. Contribute to upstream process improvements through the use of Lean Sigma tools and understanding of ejected product root cause. Work as part of a global team and provide technical support to various functional teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Modify and test machine vision systems and components, including writing and revising software configurations.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and improve vision system mechanical, hardware, and software components.
- Support current and future projects related to vision operations.
- Apply and support lean manufacturing initiatives, identifying vision eject reduction opportunities through process improvements, tuning configurations, or other strategies. Improve the speed and reliability of vision system changeovers.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining the vision control strategy through accurate project records, Gantt charts, and other tools.
- Participate in and comply with all West HSE programs and regulations.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work environment following the West 5S program.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vision Inspection Supervisor, Engineering Manager, or Director of Operations.
Additional Responsibilities
- Communicate and consult with SMEs (Site Manager Specialist) regarding the development of new equipment or installations under your responsibility, and participate in improvement meetings across West sites.
- Ensure Change Control and risk processes for projects under your responsibility adhere to established procedures and metrics.
- Ensure all validation processes (Matrix, FAT, SAT, IOQ, PQ) are conducted within company standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of information under your responsibility.
- Ensure the preservation and integrity of equipment and tools under your responsibility, reporting any abnormalities to superiors.
- Ensure safety at the workplace.
- Know and act in accordance with the Quality Policy.
- Observe, comply with, and enforce internal safety standards and work procedures.
- Adhere to the company's Business Conduct Code and internal regulations.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
Work Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the vision inspection field preferred.
- Experience with automation, programming (PLC, VBA), and electronics troubleshooting preferred.
- Experience with vision machine integration in a cGMP/pharmaceutical manufacturing environment preferred.
- Proficiency with latest software, hardware, and vision technology preferred.
- Project management skills and ability to work independently required.
Travel Requirements
Up to 13 business days per year (approximately 5%).
