Job summary

CALO in Manama is seeking a Senior Accountant – GL to own the general ledger and lead multi-entity month-end processes. This on-site role requires strong IFRS/GAAP knowledge, consolidation experience, and excellent Excel/ERP skills.

The position focuses on accurate financial reporting, internal controls, and collaboration with auditors and cross-functional teams to improve accounting processes while supporting business growth across markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA/CPA/CA/CMA or equivalent) highly preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including General Ledger and financial reporting.
• Experience with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes.
• Experience with consolidation reporting and IFRS/GAAP compliance.
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the General Ledger, ensuring journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations are accurate and timely.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing across multiple entities.
• Prepare consolidated financial reports and support monthly/quarterly/annual statements.
• Ensure IFRS/GAAP compliance and internal controls.
• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash management, and bank reconciliations.
• Coordinate consolidation reporting across the group.
• Investigate complex accounting issues and support audit processes.
• Collaborate with Finance and cross-functional teams to improve processes and controls.
• Identify automation opportunities to enhance finance efficiency.

What You’ll Do

• Own the General Ledger, ensuring all journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations are accurate and completed on time.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities across multiple entities.
• Prepare consolidated financial reports and support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, GAAP, internal accounting policies, and financial controls.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash management, and bank reconciliations.
• Lead allocation and consolidation reporting across the group.
• Investigate and resolve complex accounting issues, ensuring financial data integrity.
• Partner with auditors by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and resolving audit queries.
• Collaborate with Finance and cross-functional stakeholders to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and internal controls.
• Identify automation and process improvement opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of the finance function.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• A professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, CMA, or equivalent is highly preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including General Ledger and financial reporting.
• Strong experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
• Solid understanding of IFRS and GAAP.
• Experience preparing consolidated financial statements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems.
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ownership.
