Job summary

Tribute Portfolio hotel in Bahrain seeks an experienced Chief Accountant to maintain accurate accounting records, process AP/AR, GL, and bank transactions, and assist with month-end and year-end closing.

You will review invoices, monitor balances, prepare financial statements and management reports, ensure compliance with internal controls and local laws, and collaborate with Front Office, Purchasing, HR, and other departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
• Previous experience working in a Marriott property is highly preferred.
• Good knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good English communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet monthly closing deadlines.
• Knowledge of hotel accounting procedures and Marriott standards is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
• Process and verify accounting transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, cash, and bank transactions.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments as required.
• Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and subsidiary ledgers.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities within established deadlines.
• Review supporting documentation for invoices, payments, expenses, and other financial transactions to ensure accuracy and proper authorization.
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable balances and follow up on outstanding items.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, management reports, and other financial analysis.
• Support the preparation of financial information required by hotel management and corporate finance.
• Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, classified, and supported by appropriate documentation.
• Assist with hotel income audit activities, including verification of daily revenues, postings, and related supporting documents, when required.
• Assist with the reconciliation of daily hotel revenue, credit card settlements, cash collections, and other income-related transactions.
• Maintain proper records and filing systems for financial documents in accordance with company requirements.
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and requested information.
• Ensure compliance with hotel finance policies, internal controls, Marriott standards, and applicable local laws and regulations.
• Identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and communicate issues to the appropriate department or supervisor.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial information and exercise appropriate professional judgment when handling sensitive information.
• Work collaboratively with Front Office, Food & Beverage, Purchasing, Human Resources, Sales, and other departments to resolve accounting-related issues.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Accountant or Finance Manager.
