UFX Studios is preparing for a new, exciting phase of growth, launching a series of ambitious film and series projects starting in January 2026 at our Walloon office in Genval (20 km from Brussels). We are seeking an accomplished and visionary VFX Supervisor to lead our creative and technical efforts, shaping the next chapter of UFX Studios’ development.
Role Summary
The VFX Supervisor will serve as the principal creative and technical authority for the project’s visual effects, ensuring the highest standards of artistic quality and technical execution. You will be responsible for defining the project’s visual language, guiding teams across all departments, and liaising directly with production and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Artistic Vision: Establish and maintain the project’s visual direction, creating a comprehensive mood board and artistic database aligned with client specifications and creative requirements.
- Technical Strategy: Define optimal technical approaches and workflows to maximize efficiency and respect established timeframes across the project.
- Production Planning: Collaborate with the VFX Producer to accurately estimate the creation of 2D and 3D assets on a shot‑by‑shot basis.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor artists and leads across all departments (2D, CG, etc.), providing clear guidelines, goals, and constructive feedback to maximize task execution speed and quality.
- Quality Control: Maintain technical and artistic oversight on the progress of all assets and sequences. Conduct final review of shots post‑technical check and take responsibility for final delivery.
- Problem Solving & R&D: Work closely with CG Supervisors and Production to find creative and technical solutions. Cooperate with the Head of Production to define and implement new pipeline tools via the R&D team when necessary.
- Resource Management: Identify necessary resources, manage the budget, and ensure strict adherence to project deadlines while maintaining high production quality.
- Reporting: Conduct comprehensive project evaluation and post‑mortem reports at the conclusion of each project.
- Candidate Profile
- Experience: 7 to 10+ years of experience in the VFX industry, including a strong background as a Senior or Lead Artist (CG, FX, or Compositing).
- Pipeline Mastery: Deep, comprehensive understanding of the entire VFX pipeline, encompassing modeling, texturing, look development, lighting, FX, rendering, and compositing.
- Artistic Acumen: Exceptional artistic sensibility regarding composition, realism, visual continuity, color theory, and storytelling.
- Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and mentor large teams, review work effectively, and maintain a coherent visual direction. Excellent communication skills are essential for client and director liaison.
- Problem‑Solving: Strong ability to provide innovative creative and technical solutions, foresee challenges, and ensure the technical feasibility of complex VFX shots.
- On‑Set Experience: Experience supervising on‑set (including data acquisition, HDRI capture, and camera tracking notes) is a significant advantage.
