Job summary

Qualifications

• 5–8 years as Test/QA/Automation Engineer with senior duties.
• Hands-on in building/maintaining automation frameworks.
• Strong API and integration testing experience.
• CI/CD integration of automated tests (Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps).
• Familiar with performance testing tools and concepts.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum; BDD knowledge a plus.
• Exposure to ERP/enterprise systems beneficial.
• ISTQB Foundation/Advanced certifications are a plus.
• English plus French or Dutch for client/stakeholder communication.

About the Role

We are seeking a Freelance Senior Test Engineer to design, execute, and automate high-quality testing solutions across our software projects. In this role, you will own the test design and execution for complex features, build robust automated test suites, and act as a quality ambassador within cross-functional teams. Your expertise will ensure reliable releases, reduced defect escape rates, and continuous improvement of our testing practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute test cases (functional, integration, regression, end-to-end) based on requirements and user stories.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and fast feedback loops.
• Perform API testing (REST/SOAP) using tools like Postman, SoapUI, or REST Assured.
• Conduct performance and load testing using tools like JMeter, Gatling, or k6 where required.
• Report, track, and verify defects, performing root-cause analysis in collaboration with developers.
• Review requirements and specifications to ensure testability and identify gaps early (shift-left approach).
• Define and maintain test data and test environments in collaboration with IT and development teams.
• Mentor junior test engineers and promote testing best practices across teams.
• Contribute to test strategy and test planning together with the Test Manager and project stakeholders.
• Document test results and quality metrics, providing clear reporting on test coverage and release readiness.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, ISO 25010, ISTQB standards).

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience

• 5–8 years of experience as a Test Engineer, QA Engineer, or Automation Engineer, with senior-level responsibilities.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright).
• Strong experience with API testing and integration testing in complex landscapes.
• Experience with CI/CD integration of automated tests (Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps).
• Knowledge of performance testing tools and concepts (JMeter, Gatling, or similar).
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments; familiarity with BDD (Cucumber/SpecFlow) is a plus.
• Exposure to ERP or enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, Salesforce) is beneficial.
• Certifications such as ISTQB Foundation or Advanced (Test Analyst/Test Automation Engineer) are a strong plus.

Languages

• Fluent in English (required for collaboration).
• Fluent in French or Dutch (required for client/stakeholder communication).
