IMEC is seeking a researcher to develop system-level power, thermal, and energy-efficiency models for future heterogeneous computing systems built on advanced CMOS technologies. You will design modelling frameworks that capture interactions across device to system levels, studying how architectural choices, workloads, packaging, and cooling affect energy efficiency, performance, and thermal behavior.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with power, thermal, or energy-efficiency modelling.
  • Solid understanding of computer architecture and heterogeneous computing systems.
  • Knowledge of advanced semiconductor technologies, packaging, and system integration challenges.
  • Experience developing simulation frameworks and research software.
  • Proficient in scientific programming and data analysis.
  • Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking and adaptability.
  • Collaborative, uses version control and documentation.
  • Committed to high-quality research results and clear communication.

Responsabilités

  • Develop system-level power, thermal and energy-efficiency models for future heterogeneous computing systems.
  • Create modelling frameworks capturing power and thermal interactions across abstraction levels.
  • Study how architecture decisions, workloads, packaging, cooling impact energy efficiency and performance.
  • Develop simulation flows, analysis methodologies, and predictive models for DTCO/STCO studies.
  • Collaborate with device, circuit, architecture researchers and present results to industrial partners.
