Imec in Leuven, Belgium, a premier nanotechnology research center, seeks a researcher to develop system-level power, thermal, and energy-efficiency models for future heterogeneous computing systems built on advanced CMOS technologies.

You will create modelling frameworks spanning devices to complete computing systems, study impacts of architecture and packaging on energy efficiency, and build DTCO/STCO-oriented simulation infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience with power, thermal, or energy-efficiency modelling.
  • Solid understanding of computer architecture and heterogeneous computing systems.
  • Experience developing simulation frameworks and research software.
  • Proficient in scientific programming and data analysis.
  • Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking and adaptability to evolving research challenges.
  • Ability to collaborate, use version control, and document work.
  • Commitment to high-quality, impactful research results.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsabilités

  • Develop system-level power, thermal and energy-efficiency models for future heterogeneous computing systems built on advanced CMOS technologies.
  • Create modelling frameworks capturing power and thermal interactions across multiple abstraction levels.
  • Study impact of architectural decisions, workloads, packaging, and cooling on energy efficiency, performance, and thermal behaviour.
  • Develop simulation flows, analysis methodologies, and predictive models for co-optimization studies.
  • Collaborate with device, circuit, architecture, and physical design researchers to evaluate options and guide design.
