Job summary

BESIX Group, a leading Belgian multinational, is seeking a Legal Counsel to advise on all legal matters for BESIX NV/SA in Belgium and Luxembourg. You will support project teams from tender review to hand-over and, where applicable, disputes.

The role includes reviewing contracts, drafting analyses, and guiding pre-litigation strategy. The candidate should have a law degree with extensive construction/project experience, fluent Dutch and English, and strong drafting and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Law degree with strong academic record; additional degrees are a plus.
• At least 10 years of relevant and demonstrated experience in construction and/or project development.
• Knowledge of project finance, PPPs and public procurement.
• Fluent in Dutch and English; good knowledge of French; other languages a plus.
• Strong analytical, drafting and negotiation skills; impeccable ethics.

Responsibilities

• Review tender documentation and legal framework.
• Draft legal analyses and recommendations; support bidding processes.
• Review and draft contractual documents with clients, partners and subcontractors.
• Ensure seamless handover to project execution teams and contract managers.
• Liaise with teams during execution and handover; assist on litigation if needed.
• Follow up on claims in cooperation with the contract manager; advise on pre-litigation tactics.
• Analyze and negotiate contracts to safeguard BESIX's interests.
• Manage external counsel and monitor regulatory developments.
