Job summary

BESIX is seeking a Legal Counsel to advise on all legal matters for BESIX NV/SA in Belgium and Luxembourg. You will support project teams from tender review to hand-over, and help with contracts and disputes to secure smooth project execution.

You will analyze contracts, manage external counsel, monitor regulatory changes, and ensure compliant operations across large-scale international projects. Fluent in Dutch and English; knowledge of French is a plus.

Qualifications

University degree in law with strong academic record.
At least 10 years of relevant experience in construction and/or project development (and ensuing disputes).
Fluent in Dutch and English; good working knowledge of French.
Outstanding drafting and negotiation skills.
Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

Review tender documentation and legal framework; provide analysis and recommendations.
Draft and review contractual documentation in bidding and negotiation phases with clients, partners, and subcontractors.
Liaise with project teams through execution and hand-over; support contract managers.
Follow up on claims in cooperation with contract managers; advise on pre-litigation tactics if needed.
Conduct litigation (judiciary and arbitral proceedings) and manage external counsel.
Monitor regulatory changes and ensure compliance across activities.
